Mushkpuri

Activities

Mushkpuri Peak is one of the highest and most scenic hiking destinations in the Galyat region of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Located close to Nathia Gali, it attracts hikers who want a longer and more demanding walk compared to nearby trails.

Mushkpuri is not a town or a tourist complex. It is a mountain summit reached entirely on foot, known for forested slopes, gradual climbs, and open ridge views near the top. Because of its height and trail length, it is usually chosen by visitors who are comfortable with full-day hikes.

Geographic and Natural Context

Mushkpuri rises to an elevation of approximately 2,800 meters above sea level, placing it slightly lower than Miranjani but still among the highest points in the Galyat hills. The mountain lies within the forest belt connected to Ayubia National Park.

The trail passes through thick pine and mixed forest before opening onto grassy slopes near the summit. This change in landscape is one of Mushkpuri’s defining features and gives hikers a clear sense of elevation gain.

3. What to See and Experience at Mushkpuri

The Mushkpuri Hiking Trail
The Mushkpuri trail from Nathia Gali is the most commonly used route. It is longer and more physically demanding than Miranjani, making it better suited for hikers with reasonable stamina.

Forest to Ridge Transition
One of the highlights of Mushkpuri is the way the landscape changes as you climb. Dense forest gives way to open slopes, offering a sense of progress that many hikers enjoy.

Summit Area
The top of Mushkpuri is broad and grassy rather than rocky. On clear days, the views extend across the surrounding hills and valleys. Weather conditions play a major role in visibility.

Photography
The contrast between forest shade and open-summit light makes Mushkpuri a strong location for landscape photography, especially in the early hours.
